  • Art Images for College Teaching (AICT) - Allan T. Kohl of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design presents AICT, "a royalty-free image exchange resource for the educational community." AICT images may be downloaded, and making derivative copies is permitted, as long as the images will be used for educational or personal purposes, not commercial. AICT on the Web consists of selections arranged in five broad chronological sections. One helpful feature is a concordance to about a dozen standard art history textbooks, allowing users to cross-reference AICT images to these books.
  • Art Museum Image Consortium - This site is a function of the Art Museum Network. AMICO is a consortium of art museums in North America formed to increase access by creating a digital library of images. A thumbnail catalog of museum images contributed in AMICO's first year is currently available for searching. Users select their terms and AMICO allows more precise searching than is usually possible with images. Users can search for American artworks about a particular subject, for example, or combine aspects such as genre or nationality for quite specific searches. Currently, images are available only in a small format, but there is promise of that changing in 1999.
  • Images on the World Wide Web - This site offers links to a variety of searching resources and image collections that allow searching for a particular image on the Web (e.g., Degas’ At the Races in the Country) or browsing clip art.
