Benavides



Career
Mr. Benavides was appointed Executive Assistant to the City Manager in February 2006. In this position, he provides a wide variety of professional support to the City Manager and the Office of the City Manager. In his capacity, he supervises the administrative activities of the Office of City Council, the City Council agenda process as well as the Council Action Team, which works closely with the City Council Offices to respond to public concerns regarding City services and resolve issues expressed by residents and neighborhood associations. Additionally, Mr. Benavides coordinates activities of the Office of the City Manager with other City departments, coordinates the resolution of issues raised by City Council and residents working in tandem with City departments, and oversees various special projects.

In 2004, Mr. Benavides was a participant in the Management Assistant program within the City Manager’s Office, working directly for an Assistant City Manager and the former City Manager. As Management Assistant, he was responsible for monitoring budgets, performance measurements, City Council and citizen inquiries. Prior to coming to the City Manager’s Office, Mr. Benavides worked in the Department of Community Initiatives as a Management Analyst.  Mr. Benavides has been employed with the City of San Antonio since 2002.

Mr. Benavides has also more than eight years of private and public sector experience including working for the former Texas Department of Human Services in Austin, Texas.

He is a native of San Antonio, Texas.
