David Ellison was appointed Acting Assistant City Manager in January 2012. Prior to that, he was the Interim Director of the Planning and Community Development Department since July 2011. Mr. Ellison comes to the City of San Antonio with more than 30 years experience in local government administration. Most recently, David served as Assistant City Manager for the City of Scottsdale, Arizona, providing senior executive leadership support to Planning & Development Services, Human Resources, Parks and Recreation, Youth / Senior Services, Human Services, Library Services, Code Enforcement and other city operations. David Ellison has also served as Assistant City Manager and in pivotal leadership roles for other recognized cities and public service entities in Texas, Minnesota and Arizona.
David will serve as Acting Assistant City Manager while the City Manager and organization conduct a national competitive recruitment process for the permanent role.
