Career
Ms. Postoak Ferguson was appointed Assistant City Manager on September 4,
2006. She oversees the Aviation Department, Convention, Sports, and
Entertainment Facilities, Capital Improvements Management Services, and the Office of Cultural
Affairs.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Postoak Ferguson was the Deputy City Manager
for the City of Overland Park, Kansas. She assisted the City Manager in the
oversight of all city departments and served as contract administrator for
the Convention Center/Hotel Complex. She served on the Board of the
Convention and Visitors Bureau and Chamber Committees. She was also charged
with the performance measure process and departmental business plans.
Prior to serving as Deputy City Manager, she served as Core Manager and
Executive Director of Budget and Research for the Unified Government of
Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas. Ms. Postoak Ferguson developed a
five-year Capital Improvement and Maintenance Program and implemented new
initiatives including generating monthly financial progress reports.
As Assistant City Manager for the City of Hays, Kansas, Ms. Postoak Ferguson
also served as the Budget Director in overseeing the development and
management of the operating budget and the capital improvements program. She
helped oversee all departments and served as project manager for the City’s
new pool project.
In Austin, Texas, Ms. Postoak Ferguson served as a budget analyst and an
Assistant to the Assistant City Manager. She worked with the following
departments: Budget Office, Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and
Convention Center Department, Solid Waste Services, Small Business Resources
Department, Health and Human Services Department, Library and Housing.
