San Antonio's Martin Luther King Drive is a historical corridor, not just for its long-standing residential and commercial impact, but also because of its cultural significance. As a reminder of and a tribute to the legacy of Dr. King, MLK Drive serves as the main thoroughfare for San Antonio's annual MLK March.
In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the local MLK March, the office of District 2 Councilwoman Ivy R. Taylor, the City's Department of Planning and Community Development and the Center City Development Office partnered with Spurs Sports and Entertainment to coordinate beautification projects along the MLK Drive corridor.
Through the Third Annual Good Neighbor Initiative, volunteers from throughout the city and neighbors along the MLK Drive corridor have worked together to assist with beautification efforts such as brush collection, vacant lot and yard clean-up and other special projects.
