Cisneros: 207-7279 Arnold Elementary recognized as one of the Top Ten Outstanding Campuses in San Antonio On Thursday, May 20, Arnold Elementary School will be recognized by City Councilwoman Mary Alice Cisneros and the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) Board of Trustees for their outstanding achievement in being selected as one of the top ten outstanding campuses in San Antonio. Principal Kathleen St. Clair and her staff have done an outstanding job and have received unparallel TAKS scores. During the 2008-2009 school year, they achieved a 97% in reading, 99% in writing, 92% in math and 100% in science. Children-at-Risk, a Houston-based advocacy group, ranked Arnold Elementary in the top 10 campuses in San Antonio. This student body is 91% economically disadvantaged, 72% at-risk and 32% bilingual. The success of this school has been attributed to collaboration of a team involving faculty, staff, parents and the community, as well as high expectations for the students. The Arnold team works hard in keeping children engaged and making learning fun. This school has earned the spot for the 3rd consecutive time on "The Best Public Schools" list published by Texas Monthly Magazine. This prestigious recognition is granted by the National Center for Education Accountability. They have been recognized by the Texas Business and Education Coalition and the Just for the Kids Organization for high academic achievement. They are among eight area schools selected for inclusion on the 2008 Honor Roll. A congratulatory and recognition breakfast is planned for staff and faculty. |
