Through generous sponsorships and donations, over 2,000 students returning to school were able to receive free backpacks and school supplies at last year’s health fair. This year's health fair is expected to be larger than ever before. "I am proud to say that the District 4 Back-to-School Health Fair is a great way for San Antonio school children and their families to learn about maintaining a healthy lifestyle as the city gears up for the start of the new school year," said Councilman Cortez. Since 2004, District 4, CentroMed, San Antonio Metropolitan Health District and San Antonio Food Bank have teamed up each year to bring the District 4 Back-to-School Health Fair to students and their families. The Back-to-School Health Fair began as a way of providing a central location where parents could take their children for immunizations. It has grown to be an opportunity for families to learn about health-related issues and receive health services such as health screenings and dental exams. Community organizations at the fair also provide information for families on preventing illness and living a healthy lifestyle. For more information, contact (210) 207-7058. |
