To continue raising awareness about San Antonio's presence at the 2010 World Expo in Shangahi, China, Mayor Julian Castro and Councilwoman Elisa Chan will participate in a soft kick-off event for the Shanghai World Expo and the opening celebration of the Confucius Institute with a performance by the University of International Business and Economics' Student Artist Troupe at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The celebration is scheduled from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., on Wednesday, February 10 at UTSA's Main Campus in the Arts Building Recital Hall (AB 2.03.02). The event is free and open to the public.

Last week, the City announced its participation in what's being called the largest World's Fair in history. A delegation of City and community leaders lead by Mayor Castro and Councilwoman Chan will make the trip to Shanghai in May. The delegation will be very business focused and will showcase its targeted industries, tourism, and quality of life.
