Ramos Hosts Fitness 101 Kids Walk and 4th Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway On Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, District 3 Councilwoman Jennifer V. Ramos and Get Fit SATX, will host the "Fitness 101: Back-to-School Kids Walk and 4th Annual Backpack Giveaway." The event will take place at Mission Branch Library, 3134 Roosevelt Ave., at 8 a.m. and is the second of a series of free monthly fitness events that the Councilwoman is hosting throughout the remainder of the year. The event will promote active participation and encourage kids to begin the school year with a healthy stride in addition to picking up a backpack filled with school supplies. Former Councilwoman Debra Guerrero and trainers of Get Fit SATX will join Councilwoman Ramos for Saturday's events. The backpacks and school supplies will be distributed upon completion of the Kids Walk and fitness participants will receive first selection of backpacks. Additional partners for this event include Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc. (TMMTX), the NRP group LLC, and the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association. Families and participants of all ages are welcome to attend. Music, water, healthy snacks, pet adoption info, and utility assistance info will be available in addition to a free Get Fit SATX workout for children.
