Mission Reach brings revitalization to District 3

On Saturday, June 25, District 3 Councilwoman Jennifer V. Ramos will commemorate the Grand Opening of the Mission Reach Project, phases I and II. The event will take place on the Theo Avenue bridge where an Opening Ceremony will be held that will feature several elected officials and dignitaries making public remarks. A Community Celebration will then follow on Lone Star Boulevard and Mission Road. The event will run from 10:45 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Mission Reach project is a multi-million dollar collaborative effort among the City, Bexar County, the San Antonio River Authority and several other partner agencies. This project's goals include ecosystem restoration, recreational improvements and overall preservation efforts of the San Antonio River south of downtown. A new Mission Concepcion portal also will be included as part of this extensive revitalization project. The City is providing new sidewalks of $100,000 allocated from federal stimulus funds as part of the Theo Avenue re-alignment of this area in addition to the $350,000 of improvements to Concepcion Park.

Admission to the event is free and there will be musical entertainment for all ages throughout the day's program. Free shuttle service will be provided from designated parking areas to the event. For more information, call 207-0969 or visit www.sanantonioriver.org.
