Councilwoman Ramos Helps Dedicate New Mission Trails Hospital on the South Side

On Monday, June 27, District 3 Councilwoman Jennifer V. Ramos was part of the Dedication Ceremony of the brand new Mission Trails Baptist Hospital. The event signified the grand opening of the state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly new hospital that will serve patients from both San Antonio and South Texas.

The Councilwoman was joined by Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson, Don Jakeway and Reba Malone from the Brooks Development Authority, Graham Reeve and Andrew Harris from the Baptist Health System, and officials from the Vanguard Health System.

This new fully-operational facility sits on a 23-plus acre campus, and features 110 all-private patient rooms with access to natural light and views that promote well-being. The hospital will also be healthy for the environment as it will be the first in San Antonio to seek LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The Councilwoman highlighted the economic impact the hospital will make with providing 600 jobs, 100 more than that at Southeast Baptist. Even before today's opening, the hospital brought several construction jobs during the past 18 months under a scarce job market and a recovering economy. She also emphasized that a quality facility and expert health care are what residents on the South Side of San Antonio need and deserve.
