New Multi-Service Senior Center Opens in District 6

City Councilman Ray Lopez joined San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro, WellMed Charitable Foundation Co-Founder Richard Manning, and invited guests to officially open the doors to the new co-operated Alicia Treviño Lopez Senior One Stop Center serving the District 6 senior community on Tuesday, July 5.

"It is with profound enthusiasm and pride that the City has dedicated a comprehensive, innovative space designed to serve the needs of our District 6 seniors," Councilman Lopez said. "The spirit of my mother Alicia was always filled with strength and joy throughout her golden years. This multi-service center promises to cultivate that same spirit in our senior residents as it seeks to improve their quality of life in the years ahead."

Manning said the staff at the WellMed Charitable Foundation, which is partnering with the City of San Antonio to operate the center, is also proud of their role in establishing this unique senior center. He relayed a message from WellMed Charitable Foundation Chairman Dr. George Rapier III.

"At WellMed, we have been focused on caring for seniors for more than two decades. We take great pride in helping to create and operate the new Alicia Treviño Lopez Senior One Stop Center as it is a fitting extension of that mission," Dr. Rapier said. "We have designed a space that is all about your health – social, emotional and physical health. We hope you consider it your home away from home, and that you will take advantage of the many complimentary amenities, services and programs offered here for years to come. From your friends at WellMed, we want to say welcome!"
