First Annual District 4 Pet Fair Promoting Responsible Care for San Antonio Pets
Vaccinations, Spay/Neuter Resources, and Licensing

District 4 Councilwoman Leticia Cantu has teamed up with local city organizations to bring forth the First Annual District 4 Pet Fair to its residents and their pets on Saturday, April 10 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Pearsall Dog Park located at 4700 Old Pearsall Road. The goal of the Pet Fair is to provide the public with a central, one-stop location and an opportunity to learn about pets, products and services available to ensure optimal care for animals.

The Pet Fair will feature demonstrations, information booths, various animal care professionals and animals up for adoption. Information on low cost spay/neuter services will be available along with micro chipping, grooming and even dog/owner training.

We believe "education is key for pet owners to ensure animals are healthy and treated humanely" said Councilwoman Leticia Cantu, echoing Councilman Cortez's passion on the topic. Currently, District 4 ranks at the top as the District with the highest number of stray animals.

Animal Care Services Director Gary Hendel says the Pet Fair is the perfect example of District 4 tackling a serious issue in a proactive way. "With Councilwoman Cantu's continued help and support, we'll be able to make a big difference in the pet overpopulation issue in our community."

Councilwoman Cantu selected Pearsall Park since it is one of only 2 dog parks currently in the city. The planning of the First Annual District 4 Pet Fair has been a collaboration of efforts between City's Animal Care Service, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and Solid Waste Management Departments, along with several non-profits, and the Residents of District 4.
