Councilwoman Cantu initiates placement of City job vacancies as well as City Council, Zoning, and Planning Agendas on TVSA

District 4 City Councilwoman Leticia Cantu has asked that staff consider placing all City job vacancies on TVSA, the City's Government Access Channel, to assist in the advertisement of municipal employment opportunities. This additional media outlet is aired by local video providers and will effectively compliment existing communication sources such as the internet, a source that although popular is not easily available to high percentages of our communities.

"This new outlet will serve as an invaluable tool for ensuring that our community is fully aware of the current openings at all levels of municipal government. I fully expect many citizens to utilize this new outlet," said Councilwoman Cantu.

Furthermore, Councilwoman Cantu has asked that staff place City Council, Zoning and Planning Agendas on TVSA. The job postings and City Council Agenda began airing this week and Planning and Zoning Agendas will begin airing in May. These postings on TVSA can be viewed on Time Warner Cable Channel 21, Grande Cable Channel 20 and AT&T U-verse Channel 99.

Currently, the City has increased awareness of municipal business by televising City Council meetings, City Council District shows, advertising events and contractual bid opportunities. Although these airings have allowed a more transparent and open process there is still a need to inform and educate the general public of available jobs as well as upcoming issues in a consistent and easily accessible manner.
