Councilwoman Taylor seeks applicants for the District 2 Life Skills Academy

Councilwoman Ivy R. Taylor and several community stake holders have developed and implemented the District 2 Life Skills Academy. The purpose of this program is to empower our youth and young adults with the appropriate skill set and knowledge to be successful in college, the business world and beyond.

To date, two successful workshops have been completed. Councilwoman Taylor is seeking applicants between the ages of 13 and 21 to participate in the final two sessions of the academy.

All of the workshops are held at the Ella Austin Community Center located at 1023 N. Pine Street. The next workshop will be held on Saturday, March 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The topic for the session is "Mind & Body" and will include discussions on issues facing young women and men in today's society. The session will also focus on the importance of fitness and nutrition for the body.
