City Council to hold public hearing on use of Disparity Study in policy development

On Thursday, June 25, City Council will hold a public hearing on the findings and recommendations of the 2009 San Antonio Regional Business Disparity Causation Analysis Study (Disparity Study). The public hearing will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 103 Main Plaza.

The Disparity Study is an analysis of the utilization of small, minority, and women-owned businesses available to engage in local government contracting opportunities. Results indicate the City has done a better job of providing contract bidding opportunities to these groups, but also shows that more can be done.

In addition to the findings, City staff will also gather input from the local business community before developing policy that will help the advancement of small, minority and women-owned businesses.

Citizens interested in providing testimony must sign up at the City Council Chambers prior to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Citizens can also submit testimony by email if they are unable to attend at the following site: www.sanantonio.gov/writtentestimonyfrm/ccwrittentestimony.asp.
