City’s First Annual Green Building Awards extends nomination deadline

The deadline for nominations to be received for the City of San Antonio’s first annual Green Building Awards has been extended until Friday, April 3.

The awards will celebrate builders who have made significant strides in improving the performance of their buildings, as well as, specific construction projects. Awards will be offered in several categories within the divisions of commercial and residential construction. There will also be a special award given to a nominee who has made significant contributions in solar energy.

Nomination forms are available at http://www.sanantonio.gov/mayor/greenbuildingawards.asp.  Winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8 at the International Center, 203 S. St. Mary’s Street.

This program was initiated through a Council Request for Consideration submitted by Councilwoman Diane G. Cibrian with support from Councilwoman Mary Alice P. Cisneros, Councilwoman Lourdes Galvan, Councilwoman Sheila McNeil and Councilman Louis E. Rowe. This program was also made possible through the support of the Mayor’s Sustainable Building Task Force.
