Window Restoration Workshop

The City's Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) will host a wood window restoration workshop from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, at ARTchitectural Interiors, 1350 East Southcross. Participation in the workshop is by registration only. The cost is $95 per person.

Historic wood windows, when properly cared for, can last hundreds of years and yield excellent energy efficiency rates. Wood windows are a character-defining feature of historic homes. OHP wants to provide homeowners with the tools that will allow them to properly care for the windows to avoid wood rot and irreversible damage.

Expert craftsman and HDRC Commissioner, Victor Salas, will instruct the course. The one-day hands-on training will give participants the necessary experience to identify common problems with historic wood windows as well as the ability to repair the windows into working order. Homeowners will learn how to replace broken glass properly, weatherization tips, glazing, replacing the sash, and painting techniques.

For more information or to register for the workshop, contact Molly Matthews at (210) 207-1460 or at OHP@sanantonio.gov.
