Community workshop for Strategic Historic Preservation Plan

The City’s Office of Historic Preservation will hold a community workshop from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at the Development Services Building, 1901 S. Alamo – Training Rooms A & B, in order to solicit input on the current historic preservation activities along with the long-term preservation goals and objectives.

Input from the workshop will be taken into consideration for the Strategic Historic Preservation Plan that is currently being developed by the department along with the steering committee for the plan. The goal for creating the strategic plan, is to provide San Antonio with concrete guidelines when it comes to the preservation of historic buildings, sites and districts.

Some of the topics that will be discussed during the workshop include promotion of the preservation of historic resources, the balance between historic preservation and economic development, the community’s priorities for historic preservation and the benefits to property owners and the general public when it comes to preserving historic sites.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Elizabeth Porterfield at (210) 207-3327.
