City’s PTAC to take part
in seminar focusing on $2 Billion TxDOT Stimulus Projects
The City of San Antonio’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)
will be providing information regarding the Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT) and other federal government contracting
opportunities at the South Central Texas Regional Certification Agency‘s
(SCTRCA) seminar taking place on Monday, March 30, from 5:30 p.m. to
8:00 p.m., at the San Antonio Water System Main Building, 2800 U.S. Hwy
281 North at Mulberry Street.
The seminar is aimed at encouraging small, minority, women and
veteran-owned businesses to become certified with the SCTRCA as well as
to sign up with TXDOT for stimulus projects.
TxDOT has approved stimulus package spending and predicts funding of
approximately $2 billion by May 2010. The projects funded by this
spending, along with other investments, are expected to support more
than 90,000 jobs statewide. Small, minority, women and veteran-owned
businesses wanting to do business with TxDOT must be certified as a
Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE).
Small businesses desiring DBE certification must submit an application
to one of six certifying agencies within the state. The business'
location determines which agency to contact. The certifying agency for
businesses located in the San Antonio area is the SCTRCA. The City of
San Antonio is a member entity of the SCTRCA.
For more information, call the SCTRCA at (210) 227-4722.
