Make the pledge to
recycle tomorrow!
City set to host mobile HHW/Recycle event at
the Alamodome
Tomorrow, September 19, will be declared "Recycle Day"
as the City's Solid Waste Management Department host its fourth mobile
household hazardous waste event (HHW) but with a twist. At the event,
residents will not only be able to recycle HHW items they have lying
around but they will also be able to recycle gently used clothing,
gently used furniture, and all recyclable materials accepted in the
City's recycling program. Composting classes will also be offered
throughout the day during the event.
This event is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Alamodome,
100 Montana Street. All San Antonio residents are welcome to attend. The
City wants to extend a special invitation to the residents living in
apartments to take part in this event.
At the recycling portion of the event, San Antonio residents will be
able to bring all items accepted in the City's recycling program (glass
bottles and jars, metal, paper and plastics with an index of 1-7),along
with gently used clothing, gently used furniture and tires (up to six).
Residents are asked to bring their CPS Energy bill.
HHW items such as paint, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals,
batteries, pesticides, aerosol cans and florescent light bulbs will be
accepted. Materials should be kept in their original containers. If
containers are deteriorated or leaking, transfer materials to a safe
container and label the new container to correctly identify the
contents. For this portion of the event, residents must bring a picture
ID along with a current CPS Energy bill showing Environmental Fee as
proof of residency.
