Public invited to discuss commercial design standards for Bulverde Road
The City of San
Antonio's Planning and Development Services Department is hosting a
public meeting to discuss the development of commercial design standards
for the Bulverde Road Corridor. The meeting will be held at 7:30
p.m. on Tuesday, November 10 at the Shrine of Saint Padre Pio,
located at 3843 Bulverde Parkway.
The proposed design standards would apply to future commercial construction
projects along Bulverde Road between Loop 1604 and Evans Road. These design
standards would focus on preserving the scenic qualities of the corridor and
could limit sign height and size, and create unifying standards for building
materials and landscaping. At the meeting, community stakeholders will have
an opportunity to share their ideas about how the area should develop, learn
more about the Corridor Overlay District program, and volunteer to be a
member of the Planning Team, a group that works directly with City staff to
develop the proposed design standards.
The Planning Team will begin a series of workshops designed to help the
group develop the draft design standards. A second public meeting will be
scheduled in early 2010 so the greater community can review the work of the
Planning Team. Later in 2010, the design standards will be forwarded to
Zoning Commission and to City Council for approval as part of a new zoning
overlay district for Bulverde Road.
