Red, White and Recycle
Summer recycle tip #4: Make your Independence Day celebration green

It’s Independence Day, time to celebrate the Red, White and Blue but it’s also time to celebrate being green. Here is another helpful recycling tip from the City's Solid Waste Management Department that will help you recycle this summer.

Tip #4: Make your Independence Day Celebration, Red, White and Green. During your barbecue try rubbing the grill with an onion instead of using a chemical spray or use washable silverware or plastic dishes instead of paper ones that can not be recycled. Another helpful tip is using your blue cart or green recycle bin to collect all cans, plastic bottles or glass bottles. If you don’t have a cart, use a trash bag to collect those items instead. For those of you that compost at home, consider composting your charcoal remnants. Remember not to compost meat.

Make it a Red, White and Green Independence Day this weekend. For more recycling tips, visit www.sanantonio.gov/swmd.
