City rolls out draft of small business ordinance

The City of San Antonio Small Business Advocacy Committee (SBAC) will host a Business Stakeholder’s Meeting from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, at Municipal Plaza Building - B Room, 114 W. Commerce. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide input on the City’s Small Business Economic Development Advocacy (SBEDA) Draft Ordinance.

The Draft Ordinance is based on the findings and recommendations of the 2009 City of San Antonio Regional Business Disparity Causation Analysis Study as well as input from business stakeholders and the public. During the month of August, City staff held a public work session and individual meetings with several key stakeholders including the Associated General Contractors (Horizontal and Vertical), Citizen Bond Oversight Committee, the Hispanic Contractor Association de San Antonio, and various Chambers of Commerce, to gather further input regarding the Policy Options Matrix before drafting the new small business ordinance.

Individuals interested in learning more and commenting on the Draft Ordinance are encouraged to attend. The SBEDA Draft Ordinance is available online from August 27, through September 30, at www.sanantonio.gov. The Business Stakeholder’s Meeting is free and open to the public.
