Building Codes Academy to host seminar on Unified Development Code
The Planning and Development Services Department will host a course on
the Unified Development Code (UDC) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
on September 28 and 29 at the Cliff Morton Development and
Business Services Center, Training Rooms A and B, located at 1901 S.
Alamo. This is the first time the City is offering a course on the UDC.
Mark White, J.D., AICP, who helped author the 2001 UDC, will lead the
two-day session. The registration fee is $175, which includes a workbook
and refreshments. Attendees can earn up to 12 hours of continuing
education credit. Among other topics, the course will cover the UDC
scope and purpose, zoning, procedures, and standards and enforcement.
Registration deadline is September 25 and the class is
limited to 65 registrants. In addition, participants can participate in
a free half-day supplemental training session on Rough Proportionality
from 8:30 a.m. to noon on September 30.
Code officials, design professionals, builders, tradesman, building
owners and managers are encouraged to attend. The San Antonio Building
Codes Academy is a South Central Texas regional training academy
sponsored by the City's Planning and Development Services Department
with a goal of bringing high-quality training for building and
development professionals.
