Union Pacific gives Graffiti Abatement Program $1000 gift for solar-powered motion detector lights

The City's Housing and Neighborhood Services Graffiti Abatement Program received a $1000 gift from Union Pacific to assist with the PLUG or Place Light Upon Graffiti program. With the contribution the program will be able to purchase an additional 20 solar-powered motion detector lights, bringing the total to 98 lights, which will be dispersed.

PLUG is geared at providing lights to businesses and residential areas that have been tagged repeatedly with graffiti. Interested individuals may fill out an application online at www.sanantonio.gov/graffiti or by mail at the address below. Applications will be accepted through February 26. Quantities are limited, so not all applicants will receive lights. To date more than 250 applications have been received.

PLUG is a program established through a grant from Graffiti Hurts and additional funds provided by CPS Energy, VIA Metropolitan Transit and the City's Housing and Neighborhood Services Department.

For more information on PLUG, contact Lisa McKenzie at (210) 207-5430 or by e-mail at lisa.mckenzie@sanantonio.gov.
