City helps residents kick-off their spring lawn care by offering free mulch and paper lawn/leaf bags this weekend

Saturday, February 19, the City's Solid Waste Management Department will be offering residents free landscaping mulch and free paper lawn/leaf bags to help San Antonio residents get an early start on their spring lawn care.

From 8:00 a.m. to noon the free mulch and bags will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis at the Southeast Service Center, 7402 S. New Braunfels, and the Blossom Athletic Center parking lot, 12002 Jones Maltsberger. Residents are asked to bring a recent CPS Energy bill to show proof of residency and a photo I.D. to the event.

This is a great opportunity for residents to not only pick up some mulch that is recycled from the City's brush collection program, but also an opportunity to become familiar with the two-ply paper lawn and leaf bags that are now required to be used for the City's bagged leaf collection program. Residential customers are eligible to receive two free bagged leaf collections (maximum of 50 bags per collection) by calling 3-1-1. Usage of the paper bags will allow the Solid Waste Management Department to recycle all of the items collected instead of having to throw away plastic bags.
