VITA Super Saturday links disabled community to resources

The San Antonio Coalition for Family Economic Progress and the National Disability Institute is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Super Saturday event on Saturday, February 2 to assist persons with disabilities with their tax returns and link them to valuable community resources.

Super Saturday will connect participants to services and public benefits for which they may qualify including health insurance programs, child care resources, utility assistance, food stamp enrollment and asset building services. Flu shots will be available free of charge.
Super Saturday will be held at the following location:

Claude Black Center
2805 E. Commerce
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Trained VITA volunteers help prepare income tax returns for free for families and individuals who earn up to $45,000. Volunteers also alert taxpayers to special credits and deductions for which they may be eligible including the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit.

VITA will operate sites city-wide through April 15. To locate a VITA site, taxpayers can call the United Way helpline at 227-4357 or 211. For more information on other services provided by the City’s Department of Community Initiatives, call 207-8198 or visit www.sanantonio.gov/comminit.
