Public invited to Visioning Workshop for the proposed Arts and Entertainment District
Workshop to focus on desired location, uses and design standards

The City of San Antonio Planning and Community Development Department, in partnership with San Antonio for Growth on the Eastside (SAGE), will hold a workshop for community stakeholders to provide their vision for a proposed Arts and Entertainment District. The Visioning Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, February 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Room at St. Philips College, 1801 Martin Luther King Drive.

An Arts and Entertainment District is a special zoning district that would promote and protect existing arts and entertainment venues and encourage the creation and development of additional arts and entertainment venues and compatible uses. The areas near the Alamodome and the AT&T Center will be evaluated as potential sites for this new district.

During the Visioning Workshop, members of the community will be asked to identify desired boundaries, allowed uses and design standards for the proposed district.

City staff will present a draft of the new special zoning district standards, based on the community input received during the first meeting, on Tuesday, March 25 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Room at St. Philips College. Community members will be asked to provide their feedback on the draft standards and brainstorm strategies for implementation.

A final draft of the Arts and Entertainment District standards will be presented to the public during an Open House (date and location to be announced at a later time). After incorporating final comments from the public, this new special zoning district will be presented by the Planning and Community Development Department to Zoning Commission for consideration and City Council for approval.
