City wants you to know when “It’s your turn”

The City’s Solid Waste Management Department wants you to get brushed up on the rules for brush collection. In an effort to make sure residents are prepared when it’s their turn for collection, the City is enhancing its brush and bulky item program’s notification system.

This year, the Solid Waste Management Department is stepping up the way they notify customers. Not only will customers receive door hanger notifications, but the department will also be placing quarterly newspaper ads starting this Sunday, February 24, providing interactive maps and detailed information on their website, sending an informational piece through direct mail and also placing informational leaflets in the Community Link Service Centers and public libraries.

City residential rate paying customers receive two scheduled brush collections a year. Items that can be collected through the City’s brush service include tree limbs, bushes, furniture, mattresses, appliances, barbecue grills, water heaters, small pieces of carpeting, passenger car tires (limit 6). Materials placed out before notification or after crews have passed is a violation and subject to fines up to $2000 a day.

Paint, chemical products, as well as, construction and remodeling supplies are not accepted during brush collection. However, paint and chemical products can be disposed of at the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Center, 7030 Culebra Road, Thursdays 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Fridays 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the first Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

So stay brushed up on your brush collection San Antonio to help make your neighborhood a clean and safe community. For more information call 3-1-1 or visit www.sanantonio.gov/brush.
