Neighborhood associations
assist with community development
Are you truly concerned about your neighborhood? Could your neighborhood
benefit from stronger relationships, stronger resources, greater
neighborhood sufficiency and community development?
If so, the City’s Planning and Community Development Department wants to
help residents organize their own neighborhood associations. Once a
neighborhood is officially registered, residents will be able to develop
working relationships with the City and improve communication with other
public agencies, businesses and non-profit organizations.
Registered groups will also be able to participate
with the San Antonio Police Department’s San Antonio Fear Free Environment
(SAFFE) and Cellular on Patrol (COP) programs and will even be notified
about pending zoning cases should their boundaries fall within 200 feet.
“The benefits of organizing and registering an official neighborhood
association are endless,” said Loretta N. Olison, senior planner with the
City’s Planning and Community Development Department. “Residents will be
able to come together and directly impact community development,” she
added.
