continue to be popular movie night downtown - “This summer we have had an average crowd of more than 650 moviegoers each Thursday and we are thrilled that our residents and visitor’s have embraced Movies by Moonlight,” said Paula Stallcup, director of the City’s Downtown Operations Department. “We want to extend sincere thanks to our new sponsor, Rivercenter Mall, for their support to help us continue to make this free outdoor movie series possible.” The popular family event will feature theme-related movies each month. August movies will be a flashback to the ‘80’s:
The free movies will be shown every Thursday in the grassy area under the park archway and the Magik Theater building at S. Alamo and Nueva. Show time begins at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-show entertainment and the feature film beginning at 8:30 p.m. Concessions will be available selling favorite movie treats such as popcorn, soda and cotton candy. Movie-goers can park for free at the Alamo Street Lot near the HemisFair Park and across from the Federal Courthouse at the Durango Street lots after 6:00 p.m. on a first-come basis. “Movies by Moonlight brings a diverse crowd to downtown San Antonio to not only enjoy a great movie, but also to enjoy all that downtown has to offer,” added Stallcup. Movies by Moonlight is presented by the City’s Downtown Operations Department with sponsorship by Rivercenter Mall and is presented in part by Time Warner Cable.
