Keynote speaker selected for 2009 Community Development Summit
-Session on Multi-Modal Right of Way added to program-

Gerrit-Jan Knaap, the executive director for the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education, has been tapped as one of the keynote speakers at the 2009 Community Development Summit, Creating Great Places: From House to Market, scheduled for September 16 and 17 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

A renowned economist and a professor of Urban Studies and Planning, Knapp is the author of more than 50 articles and five books on state and local land use planning and economics.

In addition, a session on Multi-Modal Right of Way has been added to the program, which discusses the creative process of building a new intersection or bike and pedestrian facility and how to treat retrofits. Panelists include representatives from Black + Vernooy, Architecture and Urban Design, Pate Engineers, Inc., Lockwood, Andrews & Newman, Inc. and the University of Texas at Austin.
