Two programs exist for vendor permits, one that applies to the six
designated public stationary sites and another for privately-controlled
property on the River Walk. Each program has separate policies,
procedures and application processes. River Walk permits are valid Jan.
1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2012.
For vendors who wish to sell novelty items on the River Walk at one of
six stationary sites, a lottery process will be utilized. Completed
applications and other requirements are necessary for vendors to be
included in the annual lottery process for the designated stationary
permits.
Vendors who would like to operate on privately-controlled property must
also complete an application. They also must obtain permission from the
business operator and/or property owner and fulfill other requirements
as specified by the program.
This application period marks the sixth year for the vending programs,
created following City Council approval of two ordinances. The
ordinances amended the Unified Development Code (UDC) and a City Code
related respectively to vending on the River Walk and on the street
level in the downtown business district.
For additional information regarding vending programs on the River Walk
or in the downtown business district, contact the Downtown Operations
Department at 207-3677 or visit
