Mayor Castro formally unveils City's electric vehicle chargers available for public use

San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro today officially unveiled the City's new electric vehicle chargers available to the public. A total of eight electric vehicle chargers are located throughout the city, with five of them stationed in City-owned parking garages downtown. The City's electric vehicle chargers are located at the following locations:

  • Central Library Garage (one charger), 600 Soledad St.
  • San Antonio International Airport Long-Term Parking Garage (two chargers), 9800 Airport Blvd.
  • Houston Street Garage (two chargers), 240 E. Houston St.
  • Marina Garage (one charger), 850 E. Commerce St.
  • St. Mary's Street Garage (one charger), 400 N. St. Mary's St.
  • Thousand Oaks Library (one charger), 4618 Thousand Oaks

As the City continues to work toward both creating a dynamic downtown with multiple transportation options and help develop a more energy efficient community, City staff is working with CPS Energy, the Alamo Area Clean Cities Coalition, Alamo City Electric Auto Association and other partners to make San Antonio "EV ready" as more electric vehicles are purchased by consumers.

"These new electric vehicle chargers bring our community a step closer to achieving the long-term sustainability goals outlined under the Mission Verde resolution adopted by City Council last year," Mayor Castro said.

The City's electric vehicle chargers and their installation were paid for with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds from the U.S. Department of Energy.
