City Fiesta® Medal radiates the spirit of San Antonio
- 2011 Limited Edition City pin on sale this Saturday -

As San Antonio gears up for an early Fiesta® celebration, the City unveiled its 2011 limited edition Fiesta® medal. This year's medal design takes on the likeness of the new pu2011 Fiesta Medalblic artwork entitled "Lumen" by Seattle-based artist Ann Gardner. The medal replicates the 16-foot diameter structure's shimmering yellow and gold glass mosaic sprials, each backed with reflective metal leaf.

Commissioned as part of the new Terminal B at the San Antonio International Airport, "Lumen's" sun-like circular coils greet travelers as they ascend the escalators at the east end of the Terminal. The sculpture symbolizes San Antonio's radiant sunlight and is positioned overhead to capture the natural light from the terminal skylights.

The medals will be on sale starting Saturday, March 5 for $5.00 plus tax at the City's Visitor Information Center, located at 317 Alamo Plaza; the Fiesta Commission's Fiesta Store, at 2611 Broadway; and at Public Art San Antonio's PASA Studio located at 400 North Saint Mary's, Suite 101. A portion of the proceeds from these sales will go to benefit maintenance of the City's public art collection.

This is the seventh in a series of limited edition Fiesta® medals the City has offered inspired by public artworks from around the city. Past medals have featured artworks including: Riley Robinson's "Toolyard" at the Northeast Service Center, The Blanco Road roundabout's "Beacon" by Angel Rodriguez'Diaz, and last year's famous "F.I.S.H." by Donald Lipski, located along the River's Museum Reach.
