Release Date: January 24, 2011 City of San Antonio Communications and Public Affairs Department: 207-7234 Service project helps revitalize homes in historic Dignowity Hill - Deadline for homeowners to apply is February 1 - The City's Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) is coordinating a four-day service project with students from UTSA's College of Architecture to help promote revitalization in the Dignowity Hill Historic District neighborhood on San Antonio's eastside. More than 200 undergraduate and graduate students will participate in the S.T.A.R. (Students Together Achieving Revitalization) project which will take March 26-27 and April 2-3. Approximately fifteen homes will be selected to receive minor repairs to windows, siding and porches in addition to general exterior painting and yard maintenance. Homeowners residing in the Dignowity Hill neighborhood are invited to apply to participate in the service project. To qualify, homeowners must meet eligibility requirements and be willing to help in the revitalization of their home during the two-day project. The deadline for homeowners to apply for assistance is Tuesday, February 1. OHP is also in need of sponsors to offset the costs related to the S.T.A.R. project. Sponsors will be publicly recognized on event materials, t-shirts, on the OHP website and in the newsletter for any contributions made to this effort.
