The City to offer free Homeland Security
labor verification seminar to help keep small businesses in compliance
The City of San Antonio's Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC)
will host a seminar from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.
11, 2011, at the Central Library Auditorium, located at 600
Soledad, for small business owners needing information on the new
programs offered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security regarding
labor verification and compliance.
The two free federal programs that will be discussed are:
- ICE Mutual Agreement
between Government and Employers (IMAGE): The US.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) developed this initiative as a
concept for employer self-compliance within the worksite enforcement
program, through which employers can achieve a lawful workforce through
self-policing of their hiring practices.
- E-Verify:
This is an Internet-based system that compares information from an
employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to data from
the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security
Administration records to confirm employment eligibility. E-Verify is
fast, free and easy to use.
The seminar is free. Those interested in attending the seminar can
contact PTAC at (210) 207-4680 or email
david.rodriguez7@sanantonio.gov.
