Public invited to discuss revitalization strategies for Walzem area

Business owners, residents, property owners, and others interested in the future of the Walzem area are invited to attend a public meeting this Saturday, January 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 8102 Midcrown Drive. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about revitalization initiatives currently underway and help identify issues and develop solutions to improve the commercial areas along Walzem Road.

This meeting is hosted by the City's Planning and Community Development Department and Walzem Road Area Revitalization (WRAR). WRAR is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to improving conditions in the commercial and residential areas abutting Walzem Road. WRAR recently launched a new business district that will focus on business development, organization, marketing, and physical improvements for the commercial areas along Walzem Road from Austin Highway to Eaglecrest Boulevard. The input received at this and future meetings will help set priorities and establish a five-year strategic plan for the new business district.
