City offers opportunities for payment before warrant roundup

- Grace period begins to pay fines for outstanding warrants -

San Antonio will join 200 cities across Texas for the 5th Annual Statewide Warrant Roundup. Individuals with outstanding class C fines related to misdemeanor violations such as traffic violations and City ordinance violations will have from now until March 4 to submit payment under a pre-roundup grace period without fear of arrest.

Each year, the City's Municipal Court teams up with the Marshall Unit and the Police Department to conduct a warrant roundup in an effort to clear outstanding warrants. This year, the City hopes to clear over 150,000 outstanding warrants. This number also includes those individuals who reside in the County but have outstanding municipal court warrants from the City of San Antonio.

"It is not too late for individuals to take care of their outstanding warrants. We offer this grace period as an opportunity for individuals to pay their fines before the enforcement phase begins," said Rumaldo Abonce, City Marshal. "We are urging persons to come to Municipal Court to clear their unpaid fines before March 4."

During the pre-roundup grace period, individuals with outstanding warrants may visit San Antonio Municipal Court located at 401 S. Frio Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to pay their citations. Individuals do not have to present their original citation; however, the person appearing before the court must be the individual charged with the violation. Payments are accepted by cash, check, credit card or money order. Payments may also be made on online at www.sanantonio.gov/court.

Persons wishing to pay a traffic or non-traffic warrant or request a payment plan must appear at the Municipal Court. Parking at the court will be free during the two-week pre-enforcement period of February 22 through March 4.

Individuals with outstanding warrants who cannot make it to Municipal Court and wish to pay their traffic warrant in full can visit one of the City's five Community Link Centers to clear their fines.
