members of the community to improve their own health and fitness, and
help their family and friends do the same, by making a health pledge
that can make a real difference:
- Walk for 30 minutes 2-3x a week and replace a soda with a glass of
water once a day.
- Eat at least one fruit or vegetable at each meal.
- Exercise with your family once a week and make healthy family dinners
a part of your normal routine.
"Fitness in the Park" is made possible by a federal grant awarded to the
City of San Antonio. The Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW)
grant, funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA),
is aimed at combating obesity and related diseases in San Antonio.
Classes are held in collaboration with the Westside, Braundera, Davis
Scott, Mays and Tri-Point YMCA branches, Bexar County Active Living
