Free outdoor movie
series returns, offers family entertainment this summer

by Moonlight is back! The free, popular outdoor cinema series takes
center stage once again at HemisFair Park as the City's Downtown
Operations Department kicks off the season with its first flick on
Thursday, June 2.
"Movies by Moonlight is a summer favorite," said Paula X. Stallcup,
director of the Downtown Operations Department. "We are featuring free,
family entertainment and the setting at HemisFair Park is perfect for
summer nights out with the family," she added.
The free movies will be shown every Thursday from June until the end of
August in the grassy area under the HemisFair Park arch next to the
Magik Theater building at S. Alamo and Nueva. Pre-show entertainment
starts at 7:30 p.m. followed by a brief intermission and the feature
film beginning at 8:30 p.m. The feature time and schedule may vary due
to the length of the movie. The June movie schedule is as follows:
- June 2-Madagascar
- June 9- Despicable Me
- June 16- Happy Feet
- June 23-Scooby Doo
- June 30-Yogi Bear
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and come out to
enjoy the show. Concessions will be available selling favorite movie treats
such as popcorn, soda and cotton candy. Movie-goers can park for free at the
Alamo Street Lot near the HemisFair Park and across from the Federal
Courthouse at the Durango Street lots after 6 p.m. on a first-come basis.
