A new way to experience holiday lights downtown

The Office of Historic Preservation announces the next Go! Historic SA Guided Running & Walking Tour on Thursday, December 8, at 6 p.m. featuring the new energy-efficient and festive holiday lighting downtown. The City's newly-installed LED lights on the River Walk and the downtown buildings participating in the Mayor Julián Castro's inaugural Light Up Downtown Holiday Contest provide an alluring backdrop for the guided tour of our historic downtown.

Participants will start and finish the tour at the City's St. Mary's Parking Garage, located at 400 N. St. Mary's Street. The route is approximately 2.5 miles and takes participants in small guided groups to historic sites including the recently-restored Casa Navarro, Municipal Plaza, the Atlee B. Ayers Building, the River Walk, the Crockett Hotel and more.

Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. Participants will be divided into small groups according to experience. Each tour is $15 per person and includes a fleece beanie. Register online at www.active.com keywords  "guided tour." To register by mail, go to www.sanantonio.gov/historic to download a registration form or register in person at our offices at 1901 S. Alamo. For more information, call 207-7925.
