Primer Sabado at Market Square celebrates "Back to School" in August

Join the City of San Antonio's Downtown Operations Department on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011 from noon to 6 p.m. to celebrate Primer Sabado "Back to School" at the historic plazas of the Market Square, 514 W. Commerce. The event will feature Project Stuff the Bus to help Communities in Schools of San Antonio (CISSA) gather school supplies and uniforms to ensure local students have the tools they need to succeed. The event will also feature representatives from Cafe College, who will be providing information about their services, and UTSA Athletics Division, who will be promoting the school's new upcoming football season.

Primer Sabado will also showcase an arts and crafts outdoor market, traditional Mexican food booths, vibrant folklorico and mariachi performances, kid's cultural activities, and live Spanish music with a touch of rancheras, boleros, rock and pop. The kid's cultural activity for this month's event will be "Make a Pinata" workshop, where children will learn how to make their own pinatas from scratch to take home. Children will also enjoy spirited games of loteria. This event is free and open to the public.
