Release Date: October 27, 2011 City of San Antonio Communications Office: 207-7234 Delicious hot tamales, art, music y mas at Market Square's Primer Sabado The City of San Antonio's Downtown Operations Department serves it up at the next Primer Sabado event with a Tamalada Celebration from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at Market Square, located at 514 W. Commerce. The event is free. Highlighting this monthly event is an authentic tamal showdown where popular local restaurants and factories vie for the title of making the best tamales in town. No tamalada is complete without the sounds of traditional Mexican music and performances. Mestizo Escuela de Baile Folklorico and Ballet Folklorico Festival will perform artistic and culturally-rich dances from the various regions of Mexico. Mariachi Azteca and Mariachi Los Conquistadores will take the stage to delight event-goers with serenades and musical group Fiebre Kolombiana will perform from 4 - 6 p.m. Primer Sabado rounds out with free tamal arts and crafts workshops and activities for children, hosted by local non-profit organizations.
