City seeks Commercial Rental Property Manager for Building Standards Board

Citizens with an interest in City government and who are also interested in improving the quality of life for the City of San Antonio are invited to apply for the At-Large Commercial Rental Property Manager volunteer position on the newly created Building Standards Board. Citizens currently managing rental property are occupied are encouraged to apply. The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.

On May 5, 2011, the San Antonio City Council approved a new ordinance to strengthen, update and clarify minimum property maintenance requirements for property owners and tenants. This included a reconstitution of the City-staffed Dangerous Structures Determination Board (DSDB) into the 14-member, citizen-based Building Standards Board.

The new Building Standards Board will hear appeals and violations of the new minimum property maintenance code and the San Antonio Property Maintenance Code, and rule on cases related to dangerous and dilapidated structures.
