Public Meeting set for amendments to River Improvement Overlay guidelines

The Office of Historic Preservation will hold a public meeting tomorrow, February 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Development Services Building, in the Board Room, located at 1901 S. Alamo, to provide an update on the recommendations of the River Improvement Overlay (RIO) Task Force.

RIO regulations affect exterior changes to commercial properties and multi-unit residential properties of eight or more units (single family properties are not affected by the RIO overlay.)

RIO regulations were adopted in 2002 to protect the significant public investment in the San Antonio River and insure high quality urban design. The boundaries of the overlay follow the San Antonio River from Hildebrand at the north to Mission Espada at the south.
