Vote at www.refresheverything.com/star or text 107432 to Pepsi (73774). Votes can be cast both ways each day. Voting ends July 31, 2011. S.T.A.R is a two-weekend project that achieves neighborhood revitalization through service learning. Much success comes from OHP's partnership with student volunteers from the University of Texas at San Antonio's College of Architecture and members of the Historic Preservation Association. The project aims to prevent further deterioration of low-income historic districts and provides a hands-on learning experience for students. S.T.A.R. also engages and informs the public about the values and benefits of historic preservation. To date, the S.T.A.R. project has assisted owners of 26 houses for less than $16,000. Should they win the grant, OHP will be able to have an even greater impact in preserving historic homes.
