Release Date: March 30, 2011 City of San Antonio Communications Office: 207-7234 Community invited to discuss revitalization strategies for Walzem area -Workshop to focus on image, design- Business owners, residents, property owners, and others interested in the future of the Walzem area are encouraged to attend a community meeting from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 9 at the Windcrest United Methodist Church Community Hall, located at 5461 Walzem Road (next to Affordable Insurance). This meeting will focus on image and design. Attendees will have an opportunity to share ideas about branding, gateways, parks, building materials, and streetscape design. This meeting is hosted by Walzem Road Area Revitalization (WRAR) with technical assistance provided by the City of San Antonio's Department of Planning and Community Development. WRAR is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to improving conditions in the commercial and residential areas abutting Walzem Road. WRAR recently launched a new business district that will focus on business development, organization, marketing, and physical improvements for the commercial areas along Walzem Road from Austin Highway to Eaglecrest Boulevard. This is the second in a series of meetings that will help set priorities and establish a five-year strategic plan for the new business district.
