Release Date: September 15, 2011 City of San Antonio Communications Office: 207-7234 Wood Window workshop set The City's Office of Historic Preservation is hosting a Wood Window Workshop on September 16 and 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the historic Acosta/Halff House in HemisFair Park. Participants will rehabilitate the existing windows of the home and gain valuable knowledge about wood window restoration. The workshop is a hands-on opportunity to learn how to save thousands of dollars through simple do-it-yourself techniques and proper window maintenance. The historic Acosta/Halff House is a Victorian eclectic home built in 1893 as a single-family residence and was later converted into a rooming house in the 1950s. It eventually became an architectural showpiece in the HemisFair '68 World’s Fair. The home still stands in its original location as part of HemisFair Park and is owned by the City of San Antonio. The workshop is presented by the Office of Historic Preservation in partnership with the Downtown Operations Department, HemisFair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation, the University of Texas at San Antonio College of Architecture, and ARTchitectural Interiors. For more information on the workshop, visit website www.sanantonio.gov/historic or contact Trisha Logan at 207-7244 or trisha.logan@sanantonio.gov. |
